Abstracts review criteria

Sent abstracts will be anonymously scored by a group of reviewers who are specialists in each of the thematic areas. If a reviewer has a conflict of interests and cannot review an abstract, it will be allocated to another reviewer. For any other incident, including ties between, the Delegate Committee will resolve it.

The scientific committee will reserve the right to propose the change of format from an oral or video presentation to a poster if they believe this is most appropriate This proposal will be communicated to the authors for their acceptance.

› Instructional courses

Abstracts will be scored according to the following criteria:

  • Originality (0-3 puntos): Original topic, greatly relevant in clinical practice or important educational objective.
  • Development (0-3 points): Description of methods employed during the course. Planning and development of the topic presented and explanation of the course objectives.
  • Practical application of the results (0-3 points): Assessing the possible practical effects of the course.
  • Score at previous congresses (0-1 points): According to the results of quality questionaries of previous congresses

The total score of the course will be a minimum of 0 to a maximum of 10 points.

› Oral communications

Abstracts will be scored according to the following criteria:

  • Originality (0-2 points): Original or highly relevant topic, especially if offering a new approach to the topic presented.
  • Development of the topic (0-3 points): Clear description of the abstract. Correct explanation of the problem and of the objectives and conclusions of the abstract.
  • Quality (0-2 points): Methodology of the abstract, statistical method, complexity. Assessment of number of cases relative to the frequency of the pathology or technique, etc.
  • Practical application of the results (0-3 points): Assess possible effects of the results of the study on clinical practice.

The total score of the course will be a minimum of 0 to a maximum of 10 points.

› Video communications

Abstracts will be scored according to the following criteria:

  • Originality (0-2 points): Original topic, new screening techniques or surgery, infrequent clinical case.
  • Development (0-5 points): Correct explanation of topic presented and of the objective of paper presented.
  • Practical application of the results (0-3 points): Assess possible effects of the results of the study on clinical practice.

The total score of the course will be a minimum of 0 to a maximum of 10 points.

› Poster communications

Abstracts will be scored according to the following criteria:

  • Originality (0-2 points): Original topic, new screening techniques or surgery, infrequent clinical case.

Abstracts will be scored according to the following criteria:

  • Development of the topic (0-2 points): Clear description of the abstract. Correct explanation of the problem and of the objectives and conclusions of the abstract.
  • Quality (0-2 points) Methodology of the abstract, statistical method, complexity. Assessment of number of cases relative to the frequency of the pathology or technique, etc.
  • Practical application of the results (0-2 points): Assess possible effects of the results of the study on clinical practice.
  • Relevance of conclusions (0-2 points): Quality and relevance of the conclusions found.
